OVERVIEW

VTOL-400 is a 20 kg-class UAV with a 3.7 m wingspan, a 1.75 m fuselage and a maximum take-off weight of 17–20 kg. Its vertical take-off and landing configuration supports aerial observation where a conventional runway would complicate deployment, while fixed-wing flight supports coverage of larger areas.
Balance payload weight with time in the air
Typical payload weight is 2–4 kg, with a load nacelle approximately 170 mm in diameter for compatible payload suspensions. At a cruise speed of 20 m/s, flight time is specified as 8.5 hours with a 1 kg payload and 5 hours with a 4 kg payload. Select the observation payload around the coverage, detail and duration needed for the mission.
Plan coverage and communications together
The aircraft cruises at 65–80 km/h (18–22 m/s) and uses a 48 V, 2,700 Wh onboard battery. The datasheet lists a maximum range of 614 km and a separate control range of 55 km with Full HD video.
